Image Archives:
The typewriter in its natural habitat

Fascinating as the typewriter may be as a machine and museum piece, the total image can not be complete without a glimpse at what used to be its natural habitat.

There are four image archives to choose from in the navigation bar on the left.

On this page we'll present several series of photographs on different typewriter-related topcis.

Series 1: An unguided tour of the new Hammond Typewriter Factory that opened on the East River, New York in 1905. The series was made to celebrate the launch of Hammond's new model 12.

Series2: Nine pictures taken at the Groton factory of the Standard Typewriter Company and Corona Factory between 1910 and 1914. The Standard company changed into Corona in 1912. There are scenes from assembly departments, the office and the board room. And finally the members of the board posing in a beautiful automobile.
