This Boston index typewriter is a large and solid machine, designed by D. Kempster. The machine is extremely rare.

The Boston is twice as wide as the letter-sized paper it typed on. The carriage is placed between the two wooden boards and moves from right to left under the printing point in the middle of the machine.

The indicator is placed over the heavy typewheel. The entire top section of the machine is pushed down to print on the paper. Inking is done by a ribbon, the spools of which are located next to the typewheel on top of the machine.

Production stopped within a year. Very few have survived.
