Spain is not a country with a great tradition in the production of typewriters. This very primitive wooden clone of the much earlier line of Sun and International index machines was built as late as 1921 by Matias Pastor in a workshop in Calpe, Alicante.
Made of wood and rubber type the machine could easily be mistaken for a toy, but the text on the index card indicates that it was in fact intended to be a serious typewriter. The type was inked by rollers.
The machine was sold for 120 Pts at the time and it is believed that up to 2,000 were built.
